A beautiful place in Himachal Pradesh. It is a gateway to the great Himalyas. The Parvati river originates from “Man Talai” glacier. Keep your cameras ready and immerse yourself in nature’s symphony and let your senses burst with joy. It offers a mesmerizing view throughout. This was my first experience in Parvati valley. How I took a weekend off and made it worth every penny.
If you are tired of your busy schedule Kasol is the place you can go to, to take things off your mind and enjoy the beauty.
HOW TO REACH KASOL?
Kasol is a very famous place in Parvati Valley. To reach Kasol- get down at Bhuntar. Best way to reach Bhuntar is to book a volvo (600 INR from Chandigarh and 1200 INR from Delhi). Most of the buses going to Kullu will stop at Bhuntar so you can simply board them.
After getting down at Bhuntar wait for a public bus to Manikaran/Barsheni. It costs 50 INR to reach Kasol or simply book a private cab from the taxi stand which costs around 800-1200 INR depending on the season.
WHERE TO STAY IN KASOL?
There are a lot of hotels in Kasol- tariff varying from INR 400 – 2000. It totally depends on your budget where you want to stay. There is a wide range of in-budget hotels available. Some of these hotels have common washrooms, so confirm before booking. Kasol has a camp site which is quite neat and will give you a proper camping exposure.
Pre-book your rooms if you are going after June as there will be a lot of tourists.
THINGS TO DO IN KASOL
The variety of food that Kasol offers is vast. You can try different cuisines there. Some of the cafes are very famous for their ambience, if you have 3-4 hours to kill you can walk into any cafe, and order your food and chill out with the music while enjoying the view.
1) Evergreen Cafe
2) Moondance Cafe
You will find a lot of tourists smoking up marijuana. You can get good quality hash over there but beware of thugs.
Tosh is a very beautiful village situated at a height of 7,874 Ft. The place is very calm and soothing- definitely less crowded than Kasol.
HOW TO REACH TOSH?
To reach Tosh you will have to get down at Barsheni and start your 2 hours trek to the village. This trek is easy with cabs available at Barsheni that are going to Tosh. But i’d suggest you walk it down because the trail is filled with scenic beauty.
WHERE TO STAY IN TOSH?
In Tosh you will find good places to stay and under the budget of 1000 INR/day. The guest houses below 700INR/day will offer only basic facilities like attached washrooms and hot running water available only at a particular time of the day.
THINGS TO DO IN TOSH
In the evening if the temperature is low you can ask for your hotel guy to start a bonfire, listen to good music and gel up with the tourists. Get to know people from different countries and cultures. On our visit to Tosh we made friends with 2 girls from Israel and 3 other folks from Germany. If you are one of the adventurous souls, just explore the near by areas such as a waterfall and a dam ahead of Tosh.
Keep your cameras charged for this!
