Shenbaga Hotel – A 4 Star Luxury Hotel In Pondicherry

This is not a paid review. I have no association or partnership with Shenbaga. I chose to review and all opinions are my own. This article contains affiliate links.

LOCATION

The Promenade Beach/Rock Beach is considered to be the charm of Pondicherry. A walk along the Promenade after a meal is bliss and Shenbaga is just 1.5 km away from it. One can easily find transport right outside the hotel. I highly recommend everyone to rent a bike and explore the nearby places. The place where you can rent a bike is merely 500 meters from Shenbaga. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Immaculate Conception Cathedral and Sri Aurobindo Ashram are not even 1.5 km from this stunning property. Click here to know how I managed to cover these places in a day including a pristine beach in Pondicherry!

THE HOTEL

The hotel is huge and fancy. Well, not that huge. But considering the price we paid, hell yes, it was huge. Umm, considering it is 4-star, not that huge! Parking space ample which is definitely a plus one. At the entrance lies a grand and magnificent hallway. The hotel restaurant is on the ground floor next to the reception. I am not a big fan of Shenbaga’s restaurant as I feel the décor could have been better.

The massive hallway.

The infinity pool at the terrace looks better in the photos. However, the city view from the terrace is simply outstanding. No doubts that the pool was clean and kind of infinite. 😛

Told ya. It’s partially infinite! XD

The Jacuzzi is right next to the pool but covered. The charges for the Jacuzzi is INR 200 per hour per pax. That one hour could have been complete with a glass of wine. Sadly, they do not serve food or alcohol next to the pool or Jacuzzi.

It was undoubtedly peaceful!

THE ROOMS

We booked a Majesty Grand Room as we were four. The room had 3 single beds so two of us had to sleep on one bed. We asked them to not put the extra bed as we liked the room all spacious and open. 😀 Turned out single beds could comfortably accommodate two girls weighing 45 kgs 😀 😛

Spacious much.

Talking about the view from the room – BAD. But seriously who cares when the inside is so beautiful. Although in case you want a hotel with a good view, don’t book it. It is situated right at M.G Road which is a busy street. Hence, no panoramic or picture-postcard view from the room.

The washroom is small but clean and newly built with modern faucet and shower.

Should have shut the door 😛

BREAKFAST BUFFET

The food did manage to compensate the poorly done restaurant. The variety on the menu quite spoilt us. Three extremely delicious things I had for all the four days I stayed at Shenbaga was Pancakes with Maple Syrup, Sausages and Masala Dosa. 😀

THE STAFF

The staff was prompt and responsive. They were updated about the major tourist attractions and helped us book a cab till Pichavaram Mangrove Forest too! 😀

These are my girls taking all the pains to get the info from the friendly staff 😀

CHECKLIST

To conclude, this is my opinion of the Shenbaga Hotel Pondicherry in brief.

Roadhouse Jaipur – An Affordable Backpacker’s Hostel In The Pink City

This post was brought to you with the support of Roadhouse Hostels. Although the stay was sponsored, all opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links

LOCATION

Located at a posh colony of Chomu House, the hostel is easily accessible. From Railway Station the distance is only 5 km. The Auto Rickshaw will not charge more than INR 60. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Major areas like Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Johri Bazaar, Mirza Ismail Road (aka M.I. Road) are within 3 km radius from the hostel. I personally loved the location! I am a person who is fond of eating at fancy cafes while I am travelling. Two of my favorites are Anokhi Café and Jái Pour which are just walking distance from the hostel. I could easily get an Auto/Rickshaw right outside the hostel.

THE HOSTEL

At dirt-cheap price you cannot get anything better than this. Roadhouse will provide you a sense of home. The hostel greets you with yellow walls and blue gate, and a verandah that looks like a road. One side of the road leads to the common room which is just like my living room (a lot more quirky though) where I sit all day and watch movies; the other side leads to the reception and entrance of the rooms.

roadhouse hostel jaipur

Pretty much.

Roadhouse Hostel Jaipur

The common room: Feels like home.

The basement is what they call the ‘chill zone’. Before going to bed almost everyone goes downstairs for a match of pool, play-station or foosball. I did too. Ha! But obviously lost. Ha! Ha!

All day, all night. @ Chill Zone

The terrace is extremely peaceful but could be made more beautiful. How? Add some more lights. 😛 I don’t know if it’s only me or everybody is mad about lights. Other than this, the minion wall is just too cool!

The minion wall with a beautiful backdrop <3

You can spot Peahen from Roadhouse’s terrace. <3

THE ROOMS

The rooms are exceptionally good. Every dorm is huge and spacious. The hostel ensures that the dorms are cleaned on a daily basis. The washrooms are clean and well-maintained. A lot of hostels focus only on the common area compromising on the rooms believing that people only come there to crash in. I have never said this about any hostel but the best part about Roadhouse Hostel was the quality of the rooms.

THE STAFF

The staff adds a charm to this hostel. A lot of them are new in Jaipur and hence, they don’t know much about the city. But they will take all the pains to gather information for you. They are extremely friendly and helpful. One can always spot Deepak and Rohit having a big smile on their faces.

BOTTOM LINE

Nowhere in Jaipur can you find an accommodation so cheap and so comfortable. I highly recommend it for budget travelers.

Pappi Chulo – The Most Happening Hostel Of Goa

This is not a paid review. I have no association or partnership with Pappi Chulo. I chose to review and all opinions are my own. This article contains affiliate links.

LOCATION

People who wish to party head to North Goa. I have been to Goa thrice and a hell lot of hostels in total but Pappi Chulo is by far the most happening one.

Distance from Pappi Chulo to major attractions like:

1)      Vagator Beach is less than 300 mtrs.

2)      Thalassa is less than 250 mtrs

3)      Chapora Fort is 1.5 km

4)      Cubana is 4.5 km

5)      Saturday Night Market is 3.7 km

A taxi from airport to the hostel would cost around INR 1200 during the day and around INR 1800 at night. You can easily rent a scooter/car outside Pappi to save money on commuting.

THE HOSTEL

I simply LOVE the structure of the hostel. They have given a cottage look to every dorm and have quirky names of each dorm – Cartoon, Shanti, Trump, Woodstock, Movie, Trip.

It has an on-site bar serving awesome cocktails in the common area. If you’re planning to have a good night sleep at Pappi Chulo, then sorry but no sorry, the music and the party vibes won’t let you.

The common area, which is basically an artificial garden with comfortable seating, is where you can hang out and make new friends.

I love what they have done with the walls. Yes, you got that right. WALL!! The graffiti and wall paintings are beautifully done.

Also, if you love cats and dogs then you’ll love Pappi Chulo. Lol, sounds funny. I mean they have pet kitten and dogs. However this wasn’t that good for me as I’m not too fond of dogs.

THE ROOMS

I stayed there for 10 days and changed 3 dorms during the stay. No, not that they were bad. I was volunteering at Pappi Chulo so basically I was one of the staff. Consequently I had to change dorms depending upon the bookings and occupancy.

The 8-bed dorm is a little congested and suffocating. The other two dorms were 6-bed dorms which of course are more comfortable than the 8 bed dorm. Although it does not matter much because you are anyway not going to be on your bed for more than 5-6 hours. One night I had to sleep in a Non-AC dorm too. It was in the month of March and without AC room was perfectly fine.

Washrooms are clean and hygienic. Dorms are cleaned on a regular basis.

THE STAFF

The two owners, Chikki and Rohit, are so energetic. I wonder from where they get so much energy. 😛 Other than being energetic, they are so damn friendly. Chikki told me about his life journey and now he is on the ‘list of people who inspired me’.

Travelers usually stay here for months and work in hostel in exchange for free accommodation. They are some crazy, wild and most fun people you could hang out with. They intend more on making connection than just serving the guest.

Hotel Review: The Golden Palms Mussoorie

This is not a paid review. I have no association or partnership with the Golden Palms. I chose to review and all opinions are my own. This article contains affiliate links.

LOCATION

A 4-star hotel located next to the Mall Road. The location couldn’t be any better. People go to Mussoorie to take a weekend off their busy lives, chill in their lavish hotel room and stroll on the Mall Road which is a foodie’s paradise. You enter Mall Road, go 200 mtrs straight and take a left. Voila! Your home for the weekend in the middle of a paradise.

THE HOTEL

The hotel is simple and elegant. There’s a giant-sized gate at the entrance leading to the parking area and a small yet beautifully designed garden. The garden has swings to keep your child occupied 😀 The reception is small but the lobby is big designed with a vintage look. There is a huge lawn adjoining the lobby and reception which has a stunning view of Dehradun. The lawn is a perfect area to sip the evening tea, enjoy the cold weather of Mussoorie and forget all your troubles.

THE ROOMS

We were upgraded to the lawn and valley facing room which was listed within the best rooms of the property. Rooms were okayish considering the price we paid. The reason why I am saying this is because I’ve stayed in better rooms at the same price. The day we reached it started snowing and it was literally freezing. Now this makes me want to mention the heaters in the room. It was HEAVEN sipping coffee in a warm and cozy room while watching the snow fall outside the window. Overall, the room was super comfortable and clean.

Neat and tidy only until we entered. 😀

Is Atlantis Overrated? Review And Guide

This post contains affiliate links. This is not a paid review. I was a paying customer and chose to review it on my website.

The only reason why Dubai was on my bucket list is Skydive, Dubai. But who knew that dive could urge me to explore this 5-Star Hotel, Atlantis- The Palm. Wondering how a dive can urge someone to explore a hotel? Here is why.

skydive atlantis

The red arrow is where Atlantis is located. Situated right in the middle of the Palm Islands. Could it be more dreamy and gorgeous? Let’s focus on the most frequently asked question:

IS ATLANTIS OVERRATED?

Why not I give you the details and you decide for yourself?

Location:

As shown in the picture above, the location was exotic. Travellers who wish to enjoy the city and not the hotel, think twice before staying here. People come here to enjoy the hotel and not many (at least me) can afford to stay for more than 2 nights. Also, paying this much for a stay I’d always prefer to enjoy the services of the hotel rather than keeping my bags and exploring the city. ( this was one of those ‘luxury holidays’ that happens once in a year with family, haha! ) It is slightly far from the city center but the activities inside the hotel are enough to keep you entertained.

Check-in and services:

We entered Atlantis around 12:30 pm and got into our rooms at 3:00 pm. Until then, we were standing in the lobby waiting for the process to complete. No kidding, it took us approximately 3 hours to check in. Finally, we reached our room BUT without our luggage. We kept calling them till 5:00 pm and eventually got down from our rooms (which takes around 15 minutes since the room and the reception were so freakin’ far). After sessions of arguments they finally sent the luggage to our room. This is how my day 1 at Atlantis got wasted. However, afterwards we jumped into the pool to release all the negativity. Rightly said, ‘home is where the pool is.’

Where we waited for hours.

Rooms:

Atlantis is divided into two wings- West wing and East wing comprising of around 1500 rooms. The hotel is built on a nautical theme: the myth of Atlantis. The rooms were average. Everything was basic from curtains, bed to the flooring. It could have been better given the extremely high tariff. Nevertheless, the view compensated every little error that I’m pointing out.

The view from our room.

The path in front of the swimming pool (Atlantis has two stunning swimming pools) leads to the beach. Very quiet and subtle.

Here’s me and daddy on the beach.

Aquaventure:

If you ask me two things not to miss in Dubai? They will certainly be skydiving and Aquaventure. Oh my god! It is AMAZING. The most thrilling water park I’ve ever been to. It has dozens of jaw-dropping rides and even a day wasn’t enough for it. Almost every ride was connected to a man-made beach which again was superb. Do not leave Dubai without spending a day at Aquaventure.

aquaventure

I might be wrong here but for guests it is included in the package. (it was for me though) If you don’t wish to stay at Atlantis and only want to spend a day at Aquaventure, then you certainly have to buy passes separately. Check here for prices.

Snorkeling, Dolphin encounter and Aquarium Dive:

Due to a low budget and a lot being spent on the dive, I could not do any of it. However, I am surely going to experience it the next time I visit Dubai.

lost chamber atlantis

Lost Chambers Aquarium had around 65,000 marine animals. This was super intriguing.

Food:

Breakfast and dinner buffet were included in my package and holy mother of god, I LOVED IT. The best time of my day: The buffet time. There are hundreds of items to choose from and everyday there’s something new on the menu.

PRO TIP: Do not lose your card. You need card for every service you wish to avail. From breakfast to elevator, everything works by card. Keep it with yourself always.

So what did you conclude? Overrated much?
