Nazar mein khwaabon ki bijliyan leke chal rahe ho
Toh zinda ho tum!
The movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara released in 2011 gave me the biggest inspiration in life, that is, to do more and to be more. Whenever I feel I’m stuck with something I do not like, I watch it and believe me it seems like I am gifted with that little hope in life once again. The movie was all about their roadtrip in Spain and from then on this was certainly added to my bucketlist. So one fine day 7 of us decided to go backpacking in the Province of Malaga. The whole trip was about going offbeat and exploring towns that not many had seen. Therefore, we ditched Museo Picasso, Malaga Cathedral, Centre Pompidou, etc and made our way to these beautiful places.
Leaving behind varied beaches in Malaga, we decided to visit the town of Nerja. I was smitten by the tranquility of this town which was a combination of some stunning beaches, beautiful streets and vintage houses. A very quiet town which might make you feel in a village. Unlike Malaga, there is an absence of high rise developments and noisy clubs along the coast alluring offbeat travellers. I can still not get over the beauty of this town.

Visiting this small historical town means going almost 3000 years back in time. We had read about Antequera being most visited by tourists, but fortunately did not even find a single tourist there. This town is a profusion of forts, churches, burial grounds, dolmens, bell tower and renaissance fountains. If you’re on a one day excursion here, DO NOT MISS EL TORCAL- a mountain top covered with wonderfully shaped limestone formed million years ago when the whole area was underwater. Sit there, relax and enjoy the breathtaking view of Antequera.
Pro-tip:1) Nobody speaks English here. NOBODY. Make sure you install Google Translate App to make your travel easier. 2) Be an explorer and do not make use of public transport here. It’s a small town and can be covered by walking. So don’t forget to put on your comfy shoes.

Small village popular among rock climbers. The sole reason why we visited this village is Caminito del Rey-dangerous bridge between the Gorge of the Gaitanes. Not as dangerous as it was earlier. The Spanish authorities made it safer by putting fence around the walkways. This exciting walk on the royal path costs around 10 Euros. The entire hike is for 8 km and begins at Ardales. Ending at El Chorro, it is very difficult to find transportation so it recommended to book your transport in advance. However, buses run on hourly basis for 1.5 Euros which would leave you at the starting point of the hike. King’s little pathway is a very unique experience offering mesmerizing view throughout.
ROADTRIP FROM MALAGA TO MADRID
The movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara intrigued us so much that we could not stop ourselves from hiring a car and made our way to Madrid. None of us had ever experienced left hand drive and we had simply no idea about the road rules in Spain. Nevertheless, we got accustomed to them after driving few miles. The distance from Malaga to Madrid is around 600 km and we covered it in typical Bollywood style. You can check out the glimpse of it on our Instagram Page. The whole episode of all girls roadtrippin’ in Spain turned out to be very amusing.
Game Of Thrones lovers, this one’s for you. The roadtrip was accompanied by a detour to a small town of Osuna in the Province of Seville. How is it related to GOT? Well, some parts of season 5 were shot here. OH YES! Our only reason to go there: go to all those famous locations featured in Game Of Thrones.
Seize the day, my friend!
